Bailout for United States Postal Service: A Warning Sign for Healthcare?

As much as I dislike Michael Moore, I am starting to think his new movie about capitalism being dead is true.  Though we may have different opinions and views on why it's dead.  The system of capitalism is based on competition.  If a company sells a good that has quality and is cheap then that company is going to survive.  Companies who fail to present a product like this will fail and if they don't change their business plan will go bankrupt.  This is how capitalism did work.  With the new administration there is another more powerful option than going bankrupt; getting the government to bail you out.  We are rewarding companies now for failed business plans.  This is the death of capitalism.  I think we all hoped the 750 billion bailout for the auto industry and others would be the last of these ill advised governmental plans.  Hope once again, failed us.  The senate is now passing a 4.5 billion dollar bailout plan for the United States Postal Service.  Even after this bailout the postal service will still be in one billion dollars worth of debt.  The Post Office has been in debt for years, unable to compete with Fedex and UPS.  Their shipping time is slower, their rates are higher and their shipping options are very limited.  Not only do we have a government bailout that will fail but we have a government company that did fail.

The proposed will make a government run service.  This is suppose to save money.  So the question we have to ask about is will this service eventually turn into the United States Postal Office?  Probably.  The will raise taxes and down the road, if the administration is still in power, we will surely bail them out.  So the question is how would a governmental insurance company compete with private run services?  It cannot compete.  It will ride on the backs of taxpayer’s money.

Secrets of Obama's Speech

It's been almost ten days since our fearless leaders speech to congress.  In that short amount of time several things have come to light.  First Representative Wilson has been grilled for his remark "you lie" directed towards the president.  He has not only had to apologize but has been formally reprimanded by the house, it should be noted that even Nancy Pelosi felt this reprimanding was of no importance to the house.  Yet congress still took time out to do so.  But was Wilson's remark all that off beat?
As of now I have two major problems with Obama's speech.  I felt the speech was a last minute ditch effort by a man who is quickly losing the stardom he once owned.  He is no longer standing for "Change We Can Believe In" but rather change we do not want.  One of Obama's favorite speech tricks is to bring in stories of regular Americans, it shows he is in touch with the people. In this particular speech Obama talked about an Illinois man who was taken off his insurance while battling cancer and because of this died.  Well that was a lie.  Looks like Obama is not that in touch with the American people after all.  The man he talked about, Otto Raddatz, was briefly dropped from his insurance for three weeks but was picked back up and then gave him experimental treatment which extended his life for three more years.  So if you ask me the story of Mr. Raddatz is a story of how well our healthcare works, the man's life was extended three years by the use of experimental drugs.  Even his sister agrees that his insurance gave him three more years of life.
Obama also brought up that his health insurance would not give illegal immigrants health care coverage.  This was the reason for Wilson's comment.  This week Obama is doing a bunch of campaigning, I guess he doesn't know he is already president.  During this week of campaigning he shared his plan to make illegals legal citizens of our great country.  That way the illegals can receive the same healthcare we will all have.  If this does happen then it is obvious that his promise of a costless plan is obviously a false claim.  We cannot really think all of these people will be covered without raising tax's can we?
The man who claimed to have the most transparent government the United States has ever had has a strange definition of what transparency.
